Yeah, and when our same troops are bombing their leader, who do you think they will praise, US?? Lol, as sad as it is, these people are brainwashed. They will back saddam to death (martydom?). I think it is good that we are going into Iraq because, IMHO, it was a mistake to let them (Saddam) remain in power after Persian Gulf. For some more thoughts of mine on this issue, visit http://www.antionline.com/showthread...606#post570606 I will be looking at this thread alot since I am into Politics and debates.
Well the problem with taking out Saddam when we had the chance is this: his son is said to be even worse than Saddam...
Ok so let's say we take out Saddam AND his son at the same time, who is next? The next guy in line is just as likely to be even worse (is it possible) or just as bad.....

Also, do you think that if the UN said No to Bush, that he would say fine? I think he'd go in either way, IMHO.
Well I don't know if Bush would go through with it or not, but I do know this. From a military personnel's perspective, we're ready to fight. When we go to war, we'll be ready to take them out (and I don't mean to dinner). Even if it means all by ourselves.

Umm.. I believe (and correct me if Im wrong) but I thought that once we take Saddam out that we would appoint someone or have an Interim like we have in Afganistan. If that's not it, please correct me.

(My wife is a 92M (Mortuary Affairs) and they just deactivated the reserve component 92M's... ) Unless they send the active division your NG unit is assigned to support you should be ok... So far the units that I know of that are slated to go over there are the 101st, elements of the 82nd, Special Forces of course, 2nd Armored Division, and the MAU that is in the gulf area right now... If you do have to go just remember what you were taught in basic and AIT and you'll do ok...
Thx for the info there...I'm not afraid of my unit being activated-they just got back from Bosnia soon after I got back from AIT. What I think may happen is I'll get temporarily transfered to a unit who isn't 100% strength. When my unit left for Bosnia, we got about 25 people (my unit is about 60 people) from a nearby unit to go with them.

Well, do you remember how difficult it was to choose who we were going to appoint? Not only that, the citizens of Iraq are going to want to choose their own leader. I mean come on. Think of this. A country overtakes our country and wants to appoint a leader of their choice. Would you try to fight them? I hope so, I know I would.......

I think after the current regime in Iraq is removed we will oversee the new government for a while... As far as who will take Saddams place we have been supporting for lack of a better word a sort of Iraqi Government in exile since the end of the Gulf War... I would venture a guess that the next leader of Iraq will come form the Iraqi National Congress... From waht I know of them they already have a constitution, plans for free elections, etc in place and ready to go... I would also imagine that there will be "Peace Keepers" in Iraq for quite sometime after we take care of business there... The UN will feel it has to have some kind of say in how things are done over there whether they participate or not... It would not suprise me if we set up an army of occupation of sorts like we did after WWII in Germany and Japan... I guess we'll see in a few months...

I'm against using force against Iraq. It's essentially not going to solve anything. Someone else will just take Saddam's place. It will be the same evil, but with a new face. We haven't exercised all our options yet, and I feel the president pushed for this far too quickly. All this is going to do is cause a lot of heart ach for people in the end.
Just my opinions
Take care
