Pain in the ass
I think the message should be changed. I asked a simple question and my motives were skewed...next thing I know I'm being called a pain in the ass. I've posted positive replies to peoples queries...but my rating stays the same.
Not real happy with the system so far...hopefully I will get some positive points someday so I can get rid of the insulting welcome message.

oh so now I understand why I haven't seen that message. This pops up when you have a lot of negatives AP's? Ok, I was just confused as to what this guy was talking about, thanks for the clarification.

Hmm, I don't think I have alot of negatives, but I still get the message.

I think you should take it as a slightly aggressive reminder. I don't know if there are degrees of messages, like a lesser one, "People on AO are finding you irritating" to "Pain in the a**" to "OK you insipid script kiddie this is your final warning to stop your banal, adolescent, posturing before being banned"
Of course there might just be the one. Personally I think it probably should be changed, however, it isn't really that bad. Certainly not enough to get worked up over. Carbonlifeform, I saw your initial post, I am one of those that misread your intentions and you did get a bad rap. However you could set up a new account and go on with that. Now that you know better how not to get negged (too much, everyone gets negged, even me  ). In the early going until you have built up some greenies it is easy to get negged to death if a few of the older members with lots of AP clout take exception to some early posts. I do not believe it is personal I have seen little of that happen here. I also am sure that JP doesn't mean the warning personally, it is just a warning with a bit of an edge to it.
One last thing. I cannot imagine the time and effort it would take to run a site like this. A little more praise for JP's efforts and a little less knee jerk reaction to every minor problem (and yes I have reacted wrongly before too) would probably be a nice way to say thankyou.
Sincerely,
