Maybe he's just playing another version of the CEO overinflated stock scam. i have doubts that his claim to 70 (or was it 80?) million followers on the 60 Minutes Show referenced by Mahakaal above is anywhere close to correct, and i can verify that he does not speak for anyone i know personally, nor apparently anyone on this forum, which leaves him with zero followers. That may not be a strictly scientific sampling, but it's close enough for me. Besides, i have *also* read about half of the "authorized" (follows a complicated process of historical verification, as much as can be validated for a largely word-of-mouth record in the beginning...) version of the Koran, and i find no urgings to violence yet, in fact i find quite the opposite so far. As i muddle through the rest of the massive text there might well be some reference to violence but if there is it will be in opposition to the half i've already finished. Besides, if everyone on the planet is related like brothers and sisters somewhere back there, and everyone claims Abraham and others for ancestors, why has everyone been fighting for as long as we have written history or fables to refer to? In 2002 we sure don't need any fools running around making rediculous, foundationless accusations and then claiming to speak for the entire Christian world! Besides, i've been hearing self appointed preachers (for lack of a better word) preaching gloom and doom and the end of days since i was about 5 years old, and it ain't happened yet! BTW, as for the "Left Behind" series mentioned, just multiply twenty-some bucks times the *++millions* of copies sold, and you can get a notion of what the bottom line might be, but then you gotta add the hefty fees for personal appearances by the authors.... I better stop here, before some of that 80 million Fallwell followers ... :(
I should imagine that this fella is about as poplular as a horny dog on a nudist beach - on both sides of the divide! It's bigotry like this (again on both sides of the divide) that got us into this mess in the first place.
