Well, it's rather simple... got started the universe at some point, and since he did such a perfect job (remember, this is GOD we're talking about) he decided to go off and have fun (whom are we to guess at what that is!). The universe is going precisely to plan, God doesn't need to intervene, he did it right he first time. :D
Ok. I have a new theory now. As I was sitting in Geometry class this morning, I thought of God as kind of like Cartman. Now hear me out, have you seen the episode of South Park where Cartman has a fish tank full of seapoeple. Maybe, God, is in a celestial society, or is just very big, and we are in his fish tank. Maybe, we are just like ants to him. Maybe, we are in his little fish tank, and he is just watching us and laughing. Maybe we are all doomed, like if his cat knocks off the fish tank, it is armageddon. I don't know.
If anyone has any other theories, even on atheism, please post them here. I would really like to hear them, even if you are just a rambling full. :)
I see our existance here as a terraforming experiment, our genepool, and technological advancements are the direct result of "divine intervention" brought forth by our extraterrestrial creator. Call him/her what you will. We are here for a grand purpose, I am sure that we have even come close to solving what that purpose will be....
I don't know, I've always had a different perception of the universe as we know it than most of my friends. I'm not really christian, while I was raised that way there's something about only one god existing that just doesn't cut it for me. I mean why couldn't there be many? or none?
Using the kid playing with lego theory, there could be 6 billion kids just like the one we're currently dealing with. I've always thought there was more than what we've been lead to believe, I've been studying fractals and infinity for a few years now and the more I learn about them the more I can compare with things in everyday life. Seems odd how something that most people don't want to think about would have any affect on everything around us.
I had kind of the same thought when I watched the Matrix for the first time, why couldn't the "real" world in the movie be another matrix? Levels upon levels right? Now I don't go for the whole "our world is actually a computer simulation" thing, it's quite possible that something along those lines is happening. If we do live in an infinite universe then these are all possibilities no?
I liked the lego analogy. . .sometimes I used to think about the planets being like an atom. . .you know electrons spinning around the nucleus, the planets around the sun, the stars around a black hole in the middle of the galaxy. . .the galaxy etc., but what if that really is it. . .maybe our solar system is just an atom that makes up something larger and that is just an atom of something else even larger. . .
FINALLY a spiritual concept i can work with, thank you unknownsoldier... This is actually a very interesting concept... One fully explainable by science, it is concievable that there is a species higher than us that we are incapable of understanding, something more evolved, this is all the more reason to embrace evolution and try to become better rather than clinging to the futile notion of pleasing a mythical father figure "who shakes a finger at us from thousands of years ago and says do it..... do it and i'll f**king spank you!!!" ~dogma. Why do we believe in god because the bible says to and believe everything the bible says because god says so.Quote:

Thank you x acidreign x. I have been trying to prove that point to my friends for a long time now. I mean, it is possible that we are little small ants to some bigger being. Think about what an actual ant thinks of us for a second. Scary isn't it. >:)

Is God beyond question? The fact of the matter is that Athiesm is just another religion... The worship of Science, of our own knowledge. So certain are we that we know things...
Do we know things? Our nature demands that we have proof of things by empirical evidence. We have to have been able to experience the same results repeatedly. Does that prove anything? The answer is no. Not really. What it all boils down to is the simple fact that even our own perceptions HAVE to be brought into question. When I see Blue do you see blue? Who knows? We may both call it the same thing, but see it completly differently. There are tribes in africa who can see a whole OTHER colour. By that I mean, when your usual European/ Amerikan see's the colour, he merely see's a "Kinda Green" but in tests, the tribes can differentiate EACH and EVERY time. What does that tell us? Perhaps it suggests that perception is subjective, we see what we are taught to see.
All perception has to be brought into question. We've never experienced ANYTHING without our sense's, so what if our senses lie to us? Is there an ABSOLUTE reality? In which things are THIS WAY, or is it all subjective? Buddhists hold that ALL reality is an illusion, that our every experience doesn't really exist, we just "Fooled" ourselves into believing it was real.
Most faiths put forth the idea of a God, An absolute being. For there to be an ABSOLUTE reality, seperate from our existence, There has to be something that observes that reality, otherwise the absolute and subjective would mean the same thing.
Our knowledge is false, Flawed by our perception. But it DOES work, And if it does work, then why question it? The fact of the matter is, Our perceptions are what we are, and it is pointless to try and escape our experience.
