Sure most of us here knew something along these lines was going on. But I don't see how it should bother or effect me. I've yet to see anyone on here foolish enough to brag in the forums about some crime they've committed. Maybe I'm not looking hard enough.

Seriously, have any of you seen something here that amounts to criminal evidence? If JP is involved with law enforcement research, like it or not, I honestly don't see that effecting the average AO user. If I were commiting computer crimes, I wouldn't exactly discuss it here. Anyone stupid enough to do so doesn't strike me as much of a threat. And anyone using AO FORUMS to study the 'minds of the hacker underground' is seriously barking up the wrong tree.

how can someone think catching script kiddies can possibly be less ethical than being one?
here is a security site offering jobs catching evil doers, that to me sounds like allot more fun than defacing web pages or spending all day knocking joe schmoe off line and would take many more real skills.
I see a ton of so called hacker sites appealing to a non-existant "hacker-ethic" just to get hits when the only ones that posses this ethic are the trusting wanna-bes who think it might make them cool. but they'll find the only appeal it gives them is when bubba trades their ass for a pack of cigarettes after their partners in crime sell them out to save their own. If real criminals had ethics they wouldn't be real criminals.
