Do you have a copy of Norton system works handy? I had a computer that wouldn't do anything at all and Norton system works fixed it.

You could try searching the registry for "Aol" and if you find something kill the bad boy...
I suggest that you dont touch the registry editor unless you truly know what you're doing. It may leave your dekstop in a much worse condition if you accidentally delete a crucial registry key.
I use Regcleaner to clear my desktop of unwanted programs left over. It has an uninstall feature too, so it may be able to get rid of AOL through that.
It's easier to find the word AOL on it, than having to scroll through each and every Registry key name.

what M/S Vin said is true but you are gona wipe the system out any ways? So why not give this a shot. Just a thought
What kind of format did you do?The best is to either do a unconditional format:for example...format c:/u and maybe /s if you want to transferr your command com to make it rebootable.Otherwise do a low-level format to wipe the mirror image file as well.Repartition it and go from there.
