I think the best selling games are the Nintendo games on Gamecube, not PS2 :)

PS2 (Main processor:Mips Emotion Engine 295MHz,Main memory:32Mo,Graphic processor:Sony Graphics Synthetiser 147MHz,Video memory:4Mo,power 3D:75millions de polygones,Sound capacity:Stereo 48 voix,Dolby Digital,DTS,AC3,DVD-Rom.
Xbox(Main processor:Intel Pentium 3 733MHz,Main memory:64Mo,Graphic processor:nVidia NV2A 233MHZ,Video memory:64Mo,Power 3D:116millions polygones,Sound capacity:Stereo 256,Dolby Digital,DVD-Rom,
Observation: the Xbox is much faster than the PS2,and there are much more games for PS2 nowadays but you can run Linux system on the X-Box.
My advice: have the two of them ,if you can;
I only have an XBox for a week or so, but here's my opinion: if you want a decent gamebox RIGHT NOW, buy a PS2. If you wanna be prepared for the future: buy an XBOX. The only advantage PS2 has over the XBOX is its number of games, but a game like Max Payne has proven that the PS2 has reached its limits (playing Max Payne on a PS2 after having played it on a PC is a torture: the speed sucks, the console has to load stuff in the middle of a level - and it takes a while...).
Allow me to make a silly comparison: when the DVD was introduced, you didn't buy a DVD-player because of the number of titles available on DVD - simply because there only were 10 or so. No, you bought it because of the potential. At that time (when the DVD was just introduced) if you wanted to see movies, you bought a VHS-player and some video-tapes.
Same goes for audio-tape vs. CD. And same goes for PS2 vs. XBox...?
And something else: what good are 2000 games? I can entertain myself with just Halo and the upcoming Splinter Cell for at least a couple of months... I'm pretty sure by that time a new top-title will be released that'll entertain me untill the next one comes out...
Even though I would normally come down in the PS2 camp, I can't help but bring up the fact that the PS3 is only a year or so away, whereas Xbox 2 is nowhere in sight (which I think is a good thing till Xbox gets a more solid following). That being said, I'd seriously consider going with the Xbox but saving all my favorite PS2 games for the PS3, provided that it will be backwards compatible like its predecessor.
I agree here. I have both, and PS2 is great for gaming, but Xbox prevails over everything else. Keep us updated on what happens here!Quote:

get the xbox...we all know halo is a great game, but if you are into sport games like madden or nba live...they are much better on xbox. One other benefit is that no memory card is needed. there is plenty of space on xbox hard drive
Just an FYI HackersWarrioR there is also a Linux on the PS2 also just a lil kit that you hook up. Now for the question at hand. I have a buddy that has had a backstage early pass beta testing something for xbox live and they he says that M$ has put a lot of money into their online gaming. (ie great bandwidth new servers, constant administration)Quote:

Now from personal experience with my PS2 and a game called SOCOM and a couple of others PS2's online gaming is kinda choppy and slow and drops ppl a lot. Buy IMHO I think the PS2 has better games and a wider array as has been stated by just about anyone. I think it would kinda be stupid to buy the xbox for just a couple of games. (have a friend do it and play his :D ) just a thought
EDIT: They will probably both drop price here in another couple months anyway because I know Playstation is already in the works of spitting out another game station
Thanks for all the advise. I can use all I can get. I agree that if one would be willing to stick it out for the long run, then get the Xbox (and the extra computer with Linex capability doesn't hurt). But the PS2 has the right now aspect. I think I wait a little longer for the dust to settle. Any one else who has any more advice, keep 'em commin.
Xbox reigns supreme over all of these inferior game systems!!!
