Muslims Rounded up in Calif.

These people arrested failed to comply with immigration laws and they were given due time to comply. It is very plain and simple. Anyone who tries to turn this into an attack on all Muslims is being juvenile and illogical in their thought processes. Lets remember what happened when Americas immigration laws were lax. Planes were flown into buildings and innocent people lost their lives. It was the WORLD TRADE CENTER! Anyone who cannot see that this attack was not on America but on freedom loving people from all over the world is blind! I do not like or support GW or these corporate war machines but I do reserve America's right to protect itself. If you do not like our laws and immigration policies then leave or do not come here. We do not live in a world of ideals and your illogical arguments will do nothing. We live in world where greeds rules, tyrants kill and madmen hijack religions. What can we say of the world we all live in? Did America create this world? Or was America created from it? MHO!

The Western World is not blameless. Corporate greed and arrogant foreign policies have taken their toll on this world. I for one am sick and tired of the microscopic nature of the world’s dissection of America. It is a double standard. Did America decry the United Kingdom when it passed the "Prevention of Terrorism Acts"? No we did not. I recognize the sovereign nature of the UK and its right to defend itself against terrorism.
Are we going to solve these issues or continue to point fingers and act like children? I am in favor of letting the world fend for itself. America should take care of its problems and let this world, which knows so much of right and wrong, to go off on its own! I am not advocating isolation. Each country needs to take responsibility for its own destiny. Ask yourselves why does the world tell us how we are wrong but not how it is right? How would you solve these problems? Instead of talking show us! MHO

I really don’t believe RC to be a mean, vindictive or stupid person. Quit the contrary. Id be very interested to hear his reasoning behind this. This I believe his part of the country. I’ve heard on the news, but haven’t paid much attention, Arabic people in California protesting our government’s policies. I had assumed they were, for the most part, citizens. This is America…people protest. For who in their right mind would attempt to move into a country and before they are granted citizenship, march in the streets against it? Normally exiles don’t act that way to those granting them shelter.

I’d like to believe this is what’s behind this and all the people jailed were dissidents here illegally. I fear (and I mean this literally) that this is not the case. What makes it even more frightening to me, is that no one that ive spoken to today, knows anything about this. There’s been nothing on the Radio or the tube that I’ve heard. If its been on the news at all it hasn’t been given much coverage, or at least not the coverage that I think it deserves.

On the Statue of Liberty it says “Give me your tired, your weak, your huddled masses...” If these people arrested are indeed nothing more than exiles, what have we done to America? If this is not the case then nowhere on this plaque does it say ‘give me your dissidents, your terrorists, your destroyers of humanity...’

Who is going to police the world? If there is nobody to watch over everybody, what does the world become? How would I be treated in one of these Middle Eastern countries. Would I be safe practicing my own culture in these countries.... I don't think so people...... Duh!!!!!

North, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia and even the inuits in Antartica :) Does it really matter what ethnicity we come from. I believe a lot of this driven war is BS and greater means behind the entire drive. But I would like to call a couple of things to attention on this article. As stated before everyone who has been arrested so far ARE in violation of immigration laws and procedures. The fact that a majority of these ppl happen to be from the middle east doesnt mean anything. The fact that this is in California should be a hint to those of you who have any knowledge on this topic. I believe the State of Michigan in the US actually has the highest concentration of Middle eastern ethnicity. So you would think this article would have happened in Michigan not California.

For some reason everyone in this country (united states) seems to think they are being discriminated against. I have seen it time and again. As I have heard other ppl say the world is succombing to greed, I could go off on a completly different tangent here but the thread at hand has to do with a new American law, I can guarantee you that if the media wasnt pumping just the middle eastern part of this up so much and you looked at the cold hard numbers you would realize that there are probably a bunch or cubans, mexicans, asians, europeans and others that are also being jailed if they are going in and registering and are in some violation of the immigration laws. But then again this is just MHO.

PS... the attack on the world trade centers wasnt just an attack on the US it was an attack on the world. remember this was a building which had ppl from all over the world working in it.

These immigrants missed the deadline to register. I suspect that they will be "scolded" and released rather quickly after they are processed. Its nothing to get excited about. They broke the law and I don't think they will receive any harsh punishments. Probably just a ticket and then they'll be released.

its possible Jill Serjeant from router may be guilty of yellow journalism here. Ill check her other stories and see what they are like but shes saying this is part of an anti-terrorism campaign. Have non-muslims been jailed? i can find no refferance to this. if you have this info please list its source.

And lets not forget there were american muslims working in the trade center when it got hit.

I think the situation is difficult and uncomfortable, but necessary. Dont get me wrong, it is horrible to have to do something like this. In israel, an american news agency (I dont remember which one) did a report on Israeli security at their airport which aired on national tv. They asked the head of security if he thinks it is ok to do racial profiling and also recieve heat about doing this. His response was that if it preventspeople from blowing up planes and killing hundreds of people then it is worth doing it everytime until there is no longer a need to worry. If you pay attention you will see this is a process and is not done without reason. Here is an example. Airplane blows up. Arabic fundamentalist group claims responsibility. There is continued action by this group and the perpatrators are all of arabic descent. Now racial profiling comes in to play because it is the only way to single out the large majority of possibilities. The countries who harbor, allow or support this type of activity are to blame. The overall Arab population are hard working respectable people with values. Until the people in these countries and the governments decide enough is enough this will continue and just get worse. I know first hand. I am an American who served in the Israeli army and I have many Arabic, and Palestinian friends so I am not anti Arab!
