You know, there has been quite a bit of discussion about installing a "Breathalyser" on automobiles to discourage drunk driving....could it be that there is a market for a maritime version of the same device? For that matter, it might be beneficial to put one on the airliners too....

more on the accident:
Eight members from the crew of the oil tanker 'Vicky', including the navigator, where found floating adrift in a long boat early this morning.
After complaints of a severe itching and burning in the genital area they were airlifted to a nearby navel hospital where on closer examination a rash was discovered on the abdominal areas of all those rescued from the lifeboat.
The rash accompanied by a faint reddish brown discoloration and a marked loss of body hair in the affected area is still a mystery to Medical experts. The crew will be kept in quarantine until the origin of the infection is determined.
Although the Captain remained unavailable for comment his teenage daughter, who often accompanies her father on such journeys, told reporters she was saddened that her trip had to be cut short and expressed deep concern for the well being of the sickened crewman claiming her life would not be the same if anything bad happened to any one of them.
While in France an inventor/chemist has asked permission to attempt the use of his recently patented compound 'Wheyhey' to raise the ship from the ocean floor. Wheyhay, a mixture of vegetable compounds extracted from grasses produces a very light gas at an astounding rate when introduced to a fluid byproduct of the dairy industry. When asked if enough gas could be produced rapidly enough to raise the vessel the chemist exclaimed "Wheyhay and up she rises!"
