hi
i first learned a *nix at university (which i did not finish), solaris, enough to navigate around the fs, communicate with other users - especially when they are in the middle of something, create and manipulate text files (including making them exponentially larger) and then sending them off to other users' screens... pretty fun, actually. =)
regards,
mark.

Aww you left out gentoo linux. Guess Im doomed to checking "other" nice poll though.

my first one would be IRIX on the SGI's at uni over here in Oz, the first one that i actually used at home was zipslack (a compact version of slackware) which i found rather frustrating due to the lack of GUI so now im sitting rather happiliy with my redhat 8 box and slowly learning the ins and outs of it...

Whoa! what's this gentoo linux, is it new, or I'm just behind times. Man never thought this post would get so much feedback. Glad it did though, but still want to give others a chance to voice their thoughts. Anymore links to useful Linux distro's are Welcome. Ge never knew the unix world was so vast.
Let's hear from U!!
Oh yea! What are some other *nix distro's that U use that's not talk about much.
Or isn't that popular among unix guru's like yourselves.
