my question....
if i make this pringles can, do i need a pig tail or can i use LMR 400 from antenna to wireless card (PCMCIA type).
also i'm not 100% on all the connecter names... N-type, SMA and such.
thanx for all your help so far.
Edit: Also do we have here anyone who's made a pringles (or equivilent) antenna. do you all think the dist of 400m is reasonable or not? is this the right design for an antenna which NEEDS to do AT LEAST 400m?

you will still need the pigtail from the pc card to the lmr400 using an "N"type connector and a double female adaptoras the pigtail will also have an "N" connector. The antenna can hook directly to the LMR400. I suggest using a very high quality lightning arrestor as well . the amplifier I have is also a lightning arrestor. If you install the lightning arrestor you will need an LMR 400 pigtail from antenna to arrestor.

If you're interested throw me a pm and i can send you his email address and he can hook ya up with the designs he used.

thanx aeallison i think i understand it all now.
has anyone got/tested a home made antenna recently?

Hey, I'm just wondering if you've gotten this thing working yet! If not.....where are you stuck? In answer to your last post, a properly made yagi should have no problems up to a couple of miles at least. Of course, your signal strength as well as the signal strength of the radio on the other end are going to have more than a little to do with this. If you're really feeling inventive, 802.11 is a standard, you could build your own! That sounds like fun.........that sounds like a trip to Radio Shack! :)

lol. i think i'll stick to basics ere. i'll make my own standard another day.
atm i'm part hunting and wondering when i'm gonna find time to build my antenna. i'm not really stuck anymore, just hafta find parts and get started building. i'll let you all know how i go, with more questions sure to come.
thanx for all the help guys.
