I dunno, i would'nt use a win box to act as a firewall. Maybe its just because i feel that a security box should not br running any GUI for one, and then that sort of minumum installation which is needed cannot be done using windows. SuSE is indeed a good choice, as its easy to use, but try to avoid any GUI on a security box. If you are like you say more familiar with windows, then by all means stick with it since there are many more settings and configurations apart from the server and the firewall that have to be done. You have to tighten the OS as well as possible, but this can only be done if you really know your way around the OS. Good luck, oh, and i would be happy to help you should you choose to use linux as your server. So feel free to "pester" me anytime you need.
Cheers.

I'm running win 2000 server (Advanced Server) , it works great but at the first i need too read alot of books to really understand how it works properly. And i agree with "AciDriveHB" it is queit nice mate. Don't forget to put the latest Service pack at http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000...s/default.asp, some programms cannot run well and it would be better to install teh sp.

If you're looking to have your server act as a firewall, you may want to consider investing in Microsoft ISA Server. It runs atop a Windows 2000 Server and allows you to set a number of permissions thourgh the familiar MMC inteface. Also, running that along with IIS (considering you set them both up properly) creates a very secure environment, protecting both your web server and your internal network.
