Morning all,
Thank you for all your help so far....here's another question.
I left my computer on last night connected to the internet to see what would happen and this morning I see that zonealarm has logged 2340 intrusions ...is this normal or is this hacker still trying to get into my machine??, if so what can I do?
And I still don't see an evidence that they are able to do the spam mailing...is it possible that there was no virus or program installed on my machine but the hacker had found a way into my machine and was just using it at will?
Thanks

They don't need to "hack" your computer to use it as a relay to send emails through your system. Or at least that's what I found whenever it happeend to me. I had nothing on my system, it was just being relayed through my mail server. I'm not sure about Zone Alarms, but if you can block the mail server ports (like I said before I think it's 110) I bet you wouldn't see any emails being sent through that computer.
Then agian maybe you do have a virus, but I think blocking that port is still a good idea because you still wouldn't be able to be used to send emails through. That's my suggestion though.

How do I go in and kill port 110 on a 98SE OS?

What version of Zone Alarm do you have? That is where you will have to configure the bloakcage of port 110. (The OS version doesn't matter, only version of your firewall software)

i think u can tell ur isp to do something about it.
they can help u block the hackers off
good luck

your using anologX proxy...turn off SMTP FTP and Telnet Proxy services inside anologX configuration and dont allow access to HTTP proxy services to users outside your network. ZA should keep it all in check for you though. a wide open proxy. where where you when i needed you.
