Yes, there have been many avatar contests, and even some creative memebers make quilts out of all the avatars for AO. they are really quiet neat. now, for that person who lost the privilage of getting a custom avatar, i think it also depends on your AP status, because when i first joined, i got the benifit, then when i posted something 'bad' i lost it cause my AP status went way down. anyways, it will come back to you....
