I took your advice and read the NSA Security guide, a very sencible read by all accounts. Its specific and security recommendations are very concise. The Ol'lady not to happy about no service finger, but security is security after all. After carefully reading the article and careful thought, I find only one question remains unanswerd. "What does it all mean?".

Hey TonyBradley, I noticed you eliminated all your little credentials and webpages. The reason this guy has 900 posts is because he has a lot more time on his hands than I do and I have a social life.
And I do have an opinion of XP- It sucks in a lan environment with other types of WIN machines becuase it uses TCP-IP over the lan instead on NetBeui. Lots of times it does not see other WIN OS's because of this.

Hey Coder Puffin, XP not using netbeui is a god sent. Explain that one to me buddy!!! Have you ever worked with XP with other MS OS's in same LAN environment? Probably not. You are probably a cashier for Wal-Mart or someting.
I would really like that explanantion about XP being a god-sent. Personally I think porn is a god-sent!

The NET Server I can disconnect untill i understand it, the wife I can dose up with tranquillizers. The Linksys Router... Well personally I would only foreward
the needed ports like to the server That keeps the other ports
unavailable to the net incase of a new exploit.
I have never been hacked inside my system at all
using a Linksys, I have several on commerical sites.
I do run Game servers and DNS servers Linksys Routers.
My only problem was a DDOS attack against my ISP and I was the Target!!! :mad:
um...i imagine i said that because netbeui is insecure, and i have some strange dislike for any standards that a giant corporation creates that are only used by it's products. and no, i'm not old enough to work at walmart :). actually, i run a lan w/ my mom's xp box, my sister's old win95 piece of crap, a laptop using xp, a playstation2 running linux, and one more box with freebsd. as you most likely aren't even qualified to work at walmart, i doubt you know what any of that meant. let me put it this way: i win. i don't know how that logic works, but i win.
