TrustNot:
Are you sure that you are using the NTFS file system? I described in my post above how to find out.
The sharing tab will only come up if you have file/print enabled.
The security tab will only be there when you have the NTFS file system.
Check out the link in my first post. It will describe it better than I could.
I think you are looking in the wrong place... not in the sharing tab, but you should be looking in the security tab. This is where you set which users can write/read/execute per folder... or even per file if you wanted to...

TrustNot... if you are using XP Pro... have you turned off simple file sharing (Tools> FolderOptions > View - should be near the bottom)? This will enable you to have more control over who has access to what...... and yeah as Phish says... you must have NTFS

Also, a very important point:
Share permissions ONLY are checked when accessing a folder over the wire.
NTFS permission are checked when accessing files and folders remotely OR locally.
IOW, if all you set is Share permissions, and someone can log on locally at the machine, those permissions don't do dick!
I second (or third?) Phish's statements re:NTFS.

OK. I've been here like two minutes, but I think I have a good solution that hasn't been mentioned yet. If you don't want someone to look at a file on your PC, then don't keep it on your PC. Put it on removable media. Keep the ZIP or whatever out of sight. If the files don't change much or at all, burn a CD.

Burning to a CD is fine for files, but the original post specifically mentioned "programs".
If MemorY wants to install/run/uninstall each time he wants to run a program.........
