This all depends on the "Linux" movement. There is also the fact that "Lindows" has a family license and is very easy to use. I personally use Lindows as a front end and try to do as much manually as possible.

Lindows tries to keep prices low with Digital copies and Click & Buy. However, there are boxed versions available.
