gore... sorry about the late reply... been v busy (decorating the g/f's study, though why she can't do it herself, god only knows) and only just got round to getting online. Anyway...possibly my mistake I thought your reply implied that in your opinion you couldn't install linux on DOS partitions and since you normally give out good replies and advice I was surprised that you didn't know that you could install linux on a DOS partition (at least as I inferred from my initial mistake).... hence being disappointed..... as I say probably me misreading your intent in the first place.... sorry... and if you can make any sense of what I've just written.... could you let me know cos I've just confused myself :)
Phishphreek... well... we all live and learn.... I'm sure you'll be able to do the same for me fairly soon :D

I did not know you could install *NIX to a FAT32 partition. I only knew EXT2/3 could read FAT32. Thanks for the info guys. I'll mess around with it. :D

Linux, RedHat at least, can be run off of a FAT partition, it will not work on NTFS to my knowledge. Unfortunately you will lose system speed.
The manual should tell you how, or go to www.RedHat.com
