linux on laptops

I have Slack 9.0 on my Toshiba 5100-603 laptop..

just updated the kernel to 2.4.22pre1 wich has greatly improved the ACPI handeling..

the only thing I can't get to work on that laptop is the damn firewire..
it doesn't seem to work on any kernel after 2.4.18


I might advice to test your laptop for linux compliency with a copy of knoppix

I work on Toshiba Sattelite 2450-101.
The best - RH-9! Only the problem should be solved with USB-modem
