I dunno.. if you build your own computer and don't get it right.. There's some serious problems... computers are pretty idiot-proof on the inside these days... I know it takes me about 30 minutes to throw out a complete fully functional computer..... You will definately have a better understanding of your computer.. IF you learn things as you go... Someone who is building their own computer, should, if they want to learn get a hardware book .. I recommend the Enhanced A+ Guide to Managing and Maintaining Your PC.. (ISBN: 0-619-03433-5) and examine and read things while you go along... Make it a day long project if you want to learn about hardware.... As a price saver that depends.. That used to definately be true, but with system prices constantly dropping that's not always true anymore.... You can get a completely system.. fairly decent for $500 CDN these days.... If you build a damn good system then yes, do it yourself to save a few dollars, but if you are just going for a fairly basic system.. There are really no savings..
