It isn't just negging , it is wholesale browbeating . I don't read some posts now because 5 or so people jump on the person saying "were good your bad " "you a lamer....." .The fact is when someone new posts and gets a response of multiple people attacking them. You know what they think? they think the people are a bunch of self righteous *******S and in many cases i AGREE. If you wish to encourage people to be ethical politeness goes along ways .How many flys do you catch with vinegar ? . Do you really think some 12 year old kid will change his mind because a bunch of people gang up on him/her? The funniest thing about it is that half the time the attackers probably could not even answer the question they just want to say how holier than thou they are (who's the lamer in that situation? ) I would be so happy if people would just shut the ***** up unless they have something constructive to post. ....Ahhh i feel much better now

I think everyone should also consider that banning a newbie with only 5-10 posts doesn't really hurt them anyway....I mean what did they lose? Basically all they lost were the posts and a bad reputation. Once they're banned they can start fresh with a new name and no bad rep., plus they now know the rules and basic code of conduct so they'd be less likely to screw up again. So there's my 2 cents worth :)

I agree with Ennis about not posting on pointless threads becuase it just takes up bandwidth. As for neggin newbies, I was negged on my first post here and I wasn't even asking a stupid question. I was answering someone else's question and I wasn't far from the right answer. That taught me to change the way I posted and to do it quickly. Have you ever gone through the recently banned lists? These people get banned for good reason. 90% of the time, they were trying to pull off some bogus social engineering stunt and got caught doing it. We don't need people like that at AO and they don't really deserve another chance in my mind. I see AP's as a way to teach and I know from personal experience that if you're smart, you'll learn quickly about how to get along on this site.

Neutron's exactly right. By far the most people that get banned are attempting to social engineer us into hacking for them/showing them how to crack or they are just doing something totally stupid. One guy that was banned a couple weeks ago was just doing stupid stuff like posting "weee" in a thread.....you can see why he diddn't last long. I have mixed feelings about people asking to hack though....not asking to crack and not asking people to hack for them...but people who just come right out and say exactly what they want to know and why. I usually give them a link or two and inform them of possible consequences but some people don't hesitate to neg them into the ground. Oh, and you now have my 35 cents worth :D
