If you uninstall kazaa or reinstall you do not lose the stuff in your shared folder. Even kazaa lite has a .dll which (i use pest patrol) is picked up as spyware--with pest patrol simply exclude it from the pest list
I think kazaa lite is a program not authorized by the group that put out kazaa(sharmon ltd???) it is a program that uses their resources (against their wishes) There is also a couple of new versions of kazaa which purport to provide stealth against (dia)RIAA.
I wouldn't personally use kazaa now as that seems to be where most of the blame is being laid for music and software piracy. I also wouldn't make a suggestion on this site as to where to pirate music but on a non internet note if you and 4 of your buddies each bought a different cd and passed them around the quality of sound would be pretty decent at that price!
kazaa-lite is a program writen to look like kazaa and access the kazaa network. its not made by the same people and has no spyware/adware. if you get it DONT press yes when it says kazaa has found an up date would you like to install it now. that comes from the kazaa network and their idea of an update is new and improved spyware
Definitly go with kazaa lite. It has many features that are definitly needed in the regular kazaa such as the ability to search more than twice and you can hide yourself easier. Plus no spyware/adware isnt life great.
