what if like i use a dial-up and someone has the username lets say Chris and he uses dial-up to (that means our Ip's change at every log in) .... what if i use the username Chris too ....can they find any of us then or ????
Yes...the recent Verizon ruling allows the RIAA to supeona the records of your ISP...records that will lead directly to you as they will show your username (the one you dial up with) as being associated with the IP address in the supeona. If it's not your account, then you just got your friend (or your parents, grandparents, whomever has the account in their name) busted.
I don't give a sweet jesus if they want me or not. Screw'em. longlive www.planetmaddness.com/riaa . Greenies for those who will join it.
No ..No ... i joined it because i dont like RIAAs opinion like many others here ... giving out greenies because somebody joins is not good ...everybody will join just to get greenies ... i just think its wrong to give out greenies because somebody join ....you better explain in a thread or so what the RIAA does and what we do at planetmaddness.com/riaa and i think far more people would join....Quote:

Always glad to help a fellow member of the community. ;)Quote:
I'll also add that the IP search is now functioning for those with a static IP.
I think that maybee that site is just an RIAA plug. I have searched for some very obvious music piratey names and none have come up trumphs.
Anyone actually get anything other than not on list ?

I tried the same, but I had no luck in finding any names that I figured would turn up. The Wired article does state, however, that there are only 125 names in the database as of July 8. So maybe I just didn't hit on the right ones, hmm...
Nevertheless, still a good find...
xmaddnes- That is a pretty good idea. However, you do realize that if you were to get a subp. that you would incur some cost to yourself in legal fees? Even in a case like this where it is pretty obvious that what you are sharing is not copyrighted material, you could probably expect to have to pay several grand to get a good lawyer. People trying to defend themselves usually ends up being a very bad thing.Quote:
Hopefully I WILL be on the list soon. Of course the songs I'm trading will be the female mission statement of Project "Screw the RIAA".
Thanks for the website. I came out clean too.
