I the following things first:-
1. Boot your computer using a bootable disk.
2. Then use fdisk(for windows) or dd (for unix/linux) to Know hard disk format type.
3. Then format the disk using the respective program(fdisk for windows and dd for unix/linux)
If this doesnot solves your problem please mention the OS and Other Things of your system to me.

Try the following steps for your hard disk problem:
1. Boot your computer with bootable disk.
2. Use fdisk (for windows) or dd(for unix/linux) to check the hard disk format type (fat,fat32,ntfs)
3.Then format it using the respective program (dd or fdisk)
If the problem persists then Please post your OS and SYSTEM config. to me.
