Zonewalker,
Thanks for the link. I found the registry key to change.
I am going to experiment with changing the registry key to a CD Rom or some other unwritable device and see if I can ultimately bypass any logging without destroying IE. I realize the ease of the Virtual Ram Drive, but with Windows XP, firewall and antivirus running I need all the extra Ram I can get. Let me know if you have any other ideas

neta10...first initial and you may feel possibly flippant response... buy more RAM!! :D A 256MB stick doesn't cost much and you only need something like 50MB (tops!) for a RAMdisk that will hold index.dat and temporary files (also depends upon if you keep the PC on 24/7 or not) - this will also give you something like an extra 200MB RAM for the rest of your system. I don't know how much RAM you have...but if you've got anything like 512MB you shouldn't have any problems running XP, firewall and antivirus along with a 50MB RAMdisk. Obviously if you have more RAM than this that would be better but...
I have serious doubts as to whether changing the registry key to point to a CD ROM will work..... (but I think it would work if you pointed it to a flash drive or something... one of those USB pen drives for example) I have a feeling that pointing the key to a CD ROM will cause some major problems with IE. Having said that... if you do get it to work I would be REALLY interested to hear!
'luck :)
