heh.... Cheyenne... out of interest did you have SP-1 installed when you tried replacing ntoskrnl? the reason I ask is cos ntoskrnl on SP-1 is slightly different to ntoskrnl with no SP-1... so if you use an ntoskrnl intended for XP with no SP-1 on a box with SP-1 (or vice versa) then you have your reason for the box getting fuct - always wondered what effect it would have.
Lesson: Dantesheaven, if you are going to replace the boot up screen make sure you have the right version of ntoskrnl

Not sure actually, The compuer that this happened on was bought from Compaq a year ago, and I didn't pay attention to the OS. All I new was that it was xp home. I'll check when I get home today and let you know though.
