This happened to me, make sure any Firewall/Internet Security apps are disabled and do a search on Google for Windows Update...click the link. They changed the redirect because of our friend the blaster....Good luck.

OK, I seriously feel stupid now... and I can't believe I'm going to actually admit this, but I found the problem....
After reading a few of the responses, I played around with the Active X stuff, went to WU site manually and not from the short cut, even turned off the firewall part of Norton Internet Security.. And after reading Wazz's above post, I turned of NIS as a whole, and sure enough, up came the M$ WU site. D'oh!!
Yep, I'm a newbie... But my thanks goes out to all who responded.
