Well thanks everyone for the suggestions. I did get the new server running (so I will be going home this weekend) and the domain seems to be working correctly.

Well, I'm coming into this a bit down the road, but maybe this will help.
Rebuild your new system (I see you've done that). Add your backup client to it (we use BE). Then reboot the system to the special Safe Mode boot for restores (hit F8 on the first Windows loader). This places the system in a special mode so that you can restore not only the OS properly, but the System State. Must be done in two different jobs, at least that has been my experience.
