Firewalls are always behind the router, they can be other places on your network as well, but for this discussion, its going behind the router. In a home user situation with cable, a firewall will work, but then you wouldn't need a router. I believe the sonic wall can do something like that.

that should be the best solution for you IMO. Let your firewall do your NAT and DHCP (if it can)
