Agian with the sick jokes? Actually I knew something was up the minute I read it... for one thing it looked kinda familiar when compaired to another thread I saw ;) . Thats why I didn't post anything on that thread. But I admit I did neg just in case though.
Valhallen, why give them a 2nd or 3rd chance to prove themselves to be even bigger *******s esspecially when MODs already have a habbit of closeing threads before other peaple are able to respond with negs which they clearly need and deserve... thus resulting in 20 to 30 chances. Because of this, many noobies are now able to freely make many threads about stupid & lame bullcrap and then they often get away with it.
ju8st assigned aps to stop thread from going suicidal :P
esp as negs were to a non-acount if you will ;)
I'm not saying that everyone who comes on this site and posts crap should be given the benefit of the doubt - it is obvious that some posts/members do need to be neg'd when they are blatantly looking to do something illegal but sometimes there maybe a some doubt and in those cases perhaps then a little bit of guidance would not go amiss?

this is exactly what I mean - it tells the person in plain terms that that kind of information will not be disclosed but instead of continuing on just to flame it attempts to help solve the problem by suggesting other alternativesQuote:
Well I don't know if you have read the intro or not but I will warn you that you are very close to being banned the idea of this website is not what you are asking for. Also I am sure that you will need physical access to her computer to delete the file as I think you would get a sharing violation Error. however you may be able to do it if you connect to her using realvnc hope this helps PS is she running broadband if so why can't you do it with her over the phone

Sometimes it is easier to kick the **** out of some weakling.. than it is to go down to the Gym and work out in the Boxercise class..
v_Ln.. Your character's posts were too sus to be just a poorly worded call for help.. I think that I see the point your trying to get across.. but it is those slaps around the head that shape our future posting.. help the ppl.. yes.. diplomatic comments.. but sometimes (for some of us) it is as in my opening comment..
cheers
Forgetting about the fact that he posed as a new member, I know when you're in a text-based medium, people tend to judge you on how well-versed you are in writing, your spelling, and of course, your grammar. You can say a person is lazy or ignorant just from the way they spell or type, which I disagree with. (Maybe lazy...but isn't the internet for many people a leisurely place?)
For example, my cousin...she is highly intelligent, but has fallen into the trend of TyPiNg LiKe ThIs. Why? Well, most of the people she's talked to on the internet are the people on her AOL buddy list. (And all AOL jokes aside) if that's what you see online, isn't that how you'd be? Especially, since it's trendy on AOL to type like that. (No clue as to why that is.) And if for some insane reason she happened to drop by to AntiOnline to ask a question about the security of her computer, I guarantee for those few reasons above, she wouldn't last more than a couple of posts.
Another example is my boyfriend. He's one of the most intelligent people I know. However, his computer experience stems from a little research he did in graduate school online to typing up reports and papers in MS Word. I showed him how to use and configure Yahoo a while back, and we talk on there sometimes...Instead of what's up, it's "what u up to?" In fact, he never spells 'you'...it's always 'u'. Why he does it, I don't know. It's not the only thing he does, typing wise that would probably get him criticized for being a moron...It's just funny, because he's so far from it...he just types that way.
I think that if anyone did criticize him for it, he'd just laugh it off and attribute it to some geekish online standard for the internet obsessed.
Then again...
Maybe it is.
On the internet or other text based mediums written language replaces the verbal/body language that people use to judge character when they meet face to face. As with any language or conversation there is a time and a place for dialects and slang, and there is also a time when being able to convey one's meaning clearly and intelligently is required. I would'nt go to a job interview dressed like a scumbag and talking like trailer trash anymore than I would go to a web forum full of complete strangers seeking help and procede to speak like a complete idiot and then wonder why no one takes me seriously. I think it is in fact very ignorant and if you are telling me that a college graduate cannot compose a piece of correspondence without abbreviating every other word or using capitalization incorrectly, then I will tell you they need to go back to school. If you cannot determine when to use slang and 'net' dialects and when not to, then you are indeed most likely ignorant despite any claims of intelligence you may have and should also return to school, or stay on AOL with the rest of the digital trailer park.

All I'm saying is that not everyone spends more than an hour a day on a computer. There are people who have come here for legitimate reasons, were judged on being new and the way they typed and negged into oblivion. Not everyone takes the internet so seriously, in fact, a lot of people are more layed back in the way they behave when they log online...especially those people who don't have to deal with computers everyday (ie. is not part of their job, the main reason they have a computer is for games, or writing papers).
I mean, if people were truly here to help eachother out, stop with the nitpicking and answer the damn questions being asked. If you're unsure about the validity of what a person is trying to do, personal attacks are not the answer. So what if a person doesn't have perfect grammar, still thinks l33t speak is cool (yeah, it's annoying, but suck it up), or types in abbreviations. If you can read it...then you can certainly answer the question...and leave the snide remarks out of it. They'll catch on.
People put up with Palemoon...and god knows sometimes I can't understand the point the first time I read through one of his posts...hell, sometimes it takes me several times. He's definitely not stupid.
And Soule... his spelling just makes me chuckle. And if anyone were to call him ignorant, I'd be one of the first people to set that one straight.
I think GG is trying to say there is more to life than the Internet and AntiOnline.
Damn GG, you know... I really don't care about how someone from up north... ummm *you* can't seem to enjoy the fine art of bad grammer. But lets face it there is a fine line between lazyness and the way you are 'taught' to do things... and Uber talk, l33t speak, or what ever the hell you want to call it is just pure and simple lazyness. I have been around computers long enought to know or remember that it was originally both a joke and a way for idiots to stray away from censorship from filters.
Yeah of course I may not have the best grammer or spelling but come on... numbers mixed with letters, or random letters crunched together to form a kinda encryptic typo language...
Damn... what the hell?
