a better list would be commands that are actually useful, anybody can simply read a list of commands out of any page of any book or any site online.
Maybe an elaboration on commands/programs such as:
- nmap
- john / crack
- iptables / ipfilter
- ping / traceroute / dns / finger
- wine
- chmod / cat / grep / etc.
- more / less (ie. cat README | more; cat README | less)
This is just a template. Make up some more. Heh.

I was curious about that myself, he was throwing out tuts like a mad man. I thought he was going to make a great member.
Oh and I know this was 2 months ago but WebCarnage...Most if not all shell accounts have usually all extra features disabled except for making text files and browsing the filesystem. And how the hell are you going to use wine on a shell account?Quote:

sync
Forces all unwritten blocks in the buffer cache to disk. This is usually not needed as there is a Daemon that does it. But it can help prevent a problem with something in your file system. So if update and or bdflush dies on you, type sync and halt the system if you can.
Or init; the way to switch run levels. Some distros use odd numbers but:
init 0 halts on pretty much every distro I have used.
init 1 is single user mode.
init 6 reboots the machine.
Or having fun with users:
shutdown -h now ' I'm a BOFH, you should have expected this.'
