I'd agree with all the other posters here - take the job. Yeah it sucks, but the pay is much better, and you may find that the work is quite easy, because you are used to working at a higher level within the company.
And as has been said, this may be a good route back into a place that obviously likes you, and you should be able to make a mark, and let them see how great you are.

How many hours is part time? $15 an hour for 10 hours week isn't gonna cut it. Does the government even give benifits to part time employees? Do you currently have benifits? I've never heard of part time employees getting bennies, but I've never been an employee of the government.
How long is the position expected to last? When that job goes away, will your current company hire you back? The job may turn into a permanent position....that's like saying the check is in the mail.
I hate to sound like a party pooper...I know the money looks good. I took a job about 12 years ago...$125 per day. I thought wow!! Until I figured out I only averaged 2 days per week.
Have you even considered trying to renegotiate your current wage? Last summer, teeangers were getting $10 an hour (near here) at McDonalds, part time.. A construction laborer starts from $7-$9 an hour.
I realize these are not in your field, but damn! $5.55 per hour.
I don't know what the answer is for you. I can only present some other options. But maaaan! I'd shovel pig **** all day if thats what it took to put food on my table.
Just consider all sides. :)

I am sure by this point you have decided to take the job but if not, the insurance benefits, if you get them as a part timer, are worth it alone to take care of all you medical problems. The money is a good jump and for crying out loud if you dont take this job go apply at some of your local retail stores. Most of them, even working on computers or selling them, will pay you 4 bucks an hour more at a minimum. So get up go get that job and if you need to pick up another part time job at one of the retail stores or work parttime for your current company
