I think this is just vapour... there is no way M$ would put any kind of ad-blocker into IE while people will pay them to keep it out - which they will.
Seriously though, M$ has a lot of interests in ads, with the content providers (especially MSN), and would stand to lose out if pop-ups or other ads were blocked by the majority of users.
Seeing as the majority of users use IE, they aren't going to do it.
Sure, there are users who use Mozilla, Konqueror, Galeon etc (like me), but we are in the minority. The truth is, that most users do not realise that there are even popup blockers available for IE / Windows.

I am going to stick with mozilla I have been using it for the past 7 months. I highly doubt that microsoft will even come close to being on the same level as mozilla and Mozilla Firebird

I've blocked 7210 ads so far... pic included for "proof".
