I thought this was worthy of a bump due to the fact that it has been suggested a few times in other threads.... :D
What about this: after a user hits the activation link and has their account enabled, we could redirect them to a page containing this info instead of sending them directly back to the front page of the site. That might make it a bit harder to ignore.
