I don't think he's that worried about not destroying a system.
well i was providing an answer for stickman.
EDman sounds very ub3r 31337 ....
Ron1n's answer was helpful to more than just EDman. Any good post has the potential to help anyone that reads it.
Keezel, I have a question about your sig that wasn't answered in your sig. May I pm you?
A hacker is someone who has the skill to learn things by himself without depending on
others. There's no question as sick as " teach me how to hack ? ".I know a lot of guys in
college who claim to be great Hackers and boast about GBs of Tools in their hard disk. Some of
them hardly know whats the difference between UDP and TCP.A lot of people wanna hack just
to impress people rather than to satisfly their technical curiousity.....
Sure man, you can PM me anytime you like.Quote:

I completely disagree. Are you honestly expecting yourself to never come here and ask us for help on how router filtering works, or perhaps how packet scrambling works? Don't confuse getting help and learning from others with "depedency".Quote:

I have to agree with Pooh on this one as well. While you can't depend on someone else for skills, you CAN for education. Asking questions from someone that has better skills in one area or another is something we all do.
My suggestion, Stickman, would be to get ahold of an older system and install an OS on it, and then pick it apart. I have no idea if that would be an option for you, (Moneywise) but it is a great way to learn. Many many "professionals" set up dummy labs of older equipment to test patches and service pack before they roll them out company wide. Groups like L0pht pooled hardware and resources in order to pick apart NT and Back Office.
I STRONGLY suggest that you start off with the idea that hacking is the art of learning how things work, NOT the ability of taking advantage of flaws so you can "Own" someones system.
Hacking take a huge amount of time to devolope both skill and knowledge, while most people these days tend towards "cracking" and never make it past the script kiddie stage.
But as far as hacking your own systems, go for it! THe only person you can really piss off is yourself.. :)
