The backup solution that we use is veritas backupexec enterprise edition.. It works like this.. We have two datacenters that house the servers that I manage. We have 1 server at each location that is a dedicated backup master server. That server is then connected to a tape farm(via fiber) that has 6 backup drives and a couple hundred tapes in the tape pool.
Each server then runs the backupexec enterprise client. We get about 300mb/min. for each backup that is running, and we can run up to 6 concurrent backups at a time(limited only by the number of drives in the tape pool). We backup a little over 60 servers in about 6 hours which totals close to 6TB of data. This is just for exchange.
If you are backing up multiple servers running multiple applications across multiple locations, backupexec enterprise is the only way to go.. I can manage all of my backups for all of my applications across all of my servers, unix or Windows from 1 console. The software will handle lotus notes, exchange, MS SQL, Oracle, sybase, etc.. etc.. etc...
Of course this requires dedicated hardware, and our tape drives were pretty pricey at around 25k a piece. But when I can manage all of my backups in under 5 minutes of work daily, it really pays for itself.

Gee, I really have forgotten what Antionline was all about. :) Since my last post in this thread that I haven't checked this thread and now I have all of your replys.
Anyhow, I will check the veritas software like it seems to be a common choice among you people.
mohaughn: I don't think that we need all that backup "power" :) but I really liked the central console to manage all of the backup servers scattered around. rhanks for your time replying.
About RAID we have implemented RAID5 in almost every server like kruptos, avenger_jcc and heroj mentioned.
Our big problem is backing up servers to one central location, as we have a wireless 11Mb/s network (we are changing to fiber, but until then...) So, we are going to study a solution that backups the servers locally.
We had already decided to keep the tapes in at least 2 different locations, as many of you mentioned.
Just to finish thanks to all your replys, That's why Antionline has never left my favorites even sometimes I spend a little time without coming I will allways return, as almost everyone that comes to this site, i'm sure.
