191MB of RAM, Win2k pro, The programs always running, AIM, mIRC, Opera and Tiny. Yesterday was the last time I ran antivirus.
Wait, you said you're running it through USB?
If you can, run it through a NIC. I've heard of way too many USB related problems. I'm guessing that's what it is.
Sorry for the newbie question but, what is a NIC? I've heard of it mentioned before but don't really know what it is exactly.
EDIT: Just thought about it. Would it be a Network Interface Card? in other words and ethernet card?
Yeah. NIC stands for Network Interface Card, and NIC has just become slang in my area.
I have heard of nothing but problems with USB internet connections. As I understand it, it has something to do with the Windows kernel having trouble dealing with USB errors. I'm not sure, I heard it from both a friend of mine at Best Buy, and a tech from the local cable company.
If a NIC is also reffered to as an ethernet card then my ADSL modem is connected to both USB and NIC. Because if I for example disconnect my modem from the USB port I can still use it as long as I don't disconnect the ethernet.
Use only the Ethernet, the USB connection is for computers without a NIC. Always use the NIC if you have one. :D
I think we found the problem... ;)
Alright I will disconnect the USB. But here's something else for ya..I only get this message on 2/3 accounts. Admin gets this error as well as mine but my brother left the computer on all night under his account, and when he woke up the computer was still acting normal. I just unplugged it through windows 2000 using the unplug/eject feature. If this doesn't work I will physically remove the USB cable and try without that. The USB light on the modem is turned off meaning it isn't recieving any data through the USB which according to you, is a good thing. So let's see how this goes.
Ok, I did the USB thing and still nothing. So that isn't the problem.
