oh by the way,i had a fellow way back that tought me how to activate connection with chat clients...He uses REGEDIT and puts some value on it...i forgot how :(

thanks for posting about that netstat thingy, i'll try to do that :)
I hope NETSTAT works on XP like it does on Win2K
netstat won't do you much good in this case.
netstat will only give you the connections for the local PC.
Its not going to tell you what is allowed through the firewall/router.
Only the admin can tell you that.
(well, there are other ways... but I don't think you want to get fired... so I won't mention them.)
Chances are: If you can't use it by the default install, he's blocking for a reason. (as he should).
