Dumped my version of ssmypics.scr into IDA pro and I did a quick look through it. I found no code that actually does anything network related.
The version of ssmypics.scr I looked at is 5.1.2600.0 and it's size is 43520 bytes.

Now that is VERY interesting.. !
As you could see from my log, I have the same version, BUT the file size is:
Size: 43008 bytes
Size on disk: 45056 bytes
Unless you just gave us a different 'Size on disk' size??
I have Win XP Pro, SP1 with all the latest updates.
Guess this could possibly mean my (or yours.. heh?!) ssmypics.scr file has been altered!?
Also notice, this network thing doesn't happen very often.. maybe once a month, but twice the day it happens.. ?

Have a hard time understanding why Microsoft would like to connect to France or Sweden, unless they have some HQ over there collecting data.. ?
i just copied it onto my computer off a brand new xp mach and its the same size as yours SawPer

Yeah.. I maybe should try to narrow my source path. I have my pics kinda spread around a little not too well organized.. so I have to use C:\ as my path.. ehe! :D
Not very good... probably is my problem.. just wanted to know if anyone else had had this problem, just in case there is something sneaky built in to the program.

Both Size and Size on Disk are 43520 bytes here. What filesystem do you use? Fat32 or NTFS? Mine is on NTFS. Could you post yours here? Then I could dump that one too and see if there's something funny going on.Quote:

I'm using a Dutch version of windows XP. I'll see if I can find an English version here..
Oh... yeah.. if yours is in a different language, that would probably do the size difference.

Well, I looked at yours and I didn't find any funny code in that one too. Haven't figured out why the sizes differ though.
