But what scene ?

People sell out by getting paid to write up POC for the big 'security corps' they are helping destroy the net one POC at a time and they make people who dont release code etc to be bad people ( ie ) 'the black hats' as the in bad guys when in reality they are not they cause hysteria by saying **** like port scanning is illegal when it is not ( In most parts of the world ) I wonder how many admins would keep there job if code was kept private think how many admins have lost there job because they are over worked with the puter litterate at there jobs and havent kept up-dated on the latest patches and some ./br defaces the server of the company all in all proof of concept code should be abolished

The stupid questions on AO sometimes, the kids seeing and wanting to try something *cough "computer related" haha that they seen in a movie or on TV, peaple "learning and exploreing" ways to look smart and cool & gaining excuses to call themselves things because they own a computer... instead of actually doing something worth while. I dunno I guess I thought that within the vast amounts of these guys wanting to be called something or be appart of something big & become famous or whatever that I thought some have managed to formed a scene of morons or something of the sort.

Although the topic of this post has turned into more of a debate I thought it was proper to post my sources now that I have them from school again. I just want to give credit where credit is due.
So the following all corresponds with my original report posted.

About your discussion with prodikal...I happen to be of the generation you are talking about, and it is true what you are saying. There are far lesser script kiddies than most people think.
There are however many (relative) people wanting to impress others with their "knowledge", I've dealt with it more than once (idiots in school).

Actually, I never tell details about what I do on my computer and very few people know I'm a geek. And when they do ask I simply keep it to "programming and stuff...".
I have yet to use the word 'hacking' in a real life conversation.

I have to agree proof of concept code should be kept private, although I wouldn't like it when it would be. It's so useful. Yet it's more harmful than useful.
And if it was abolished there would be at least much more motivation at trying to find vulnerabilities/ways of exploiting yourself.
Today all one has to do is to ask a question and he gets the answer. What about finding out your own?
