"Hackers Tales: Stories From the Electronic Frontline"

Actually I remember about a year or so ago some guy was spaming and asking for stories here for that book. Might be the same guy... but anyways as lame as some of the stories are mostly he did not write the majority of them. As the same with 90% of that dang l33t h4x0r bullcrap hiting bookshelves. In my eyes none of them are really any good. What is really bad is haveing one bad author co-write for another one example would be that happy hacker lady and Anitka or whatever his name is...

And lets be honest here... even hacking exposed is just a introduction to thier other books. Their stuff on linux and web apps are way better... even then its still not going to shape you into anything. The book can explain what a attack is, how & why it can be done, even give tools to do them... You could talk about buffer overflows a million times... they'll tell you about them and tell you where to find old exploits. But god forgive if they go as far as telling peaple that they need some knowledge of some HLL and the possable few weeks or even a year or two getting used to MASM or TASM to actually find their own stuff. Or tell you about how once you do actually find anything someone else already has already seen the same in a matter of minutes before you did then guess what... whatever you found becomes out-dated.

Nope wasn't me sorry. I haven't even been here for a year (08-18-2003 was my register date). Plus I didn't even hear about the book until I a few days ago. I titled this thread "Back With a Vengeance" because I have a new desire to learn about technology and the security side of things. I am not sure if anyone here has experienced a burnout (or whatever you would like to call it) but that is sorta what I went through.
School Finals and lots of rough weekends (chug chug) worked on me and I slightly lost interest.

So that is the answer to most of the questions. Sorry if I came off as a lamer or whatever I am not trying to say I am anything or something at all. I was just saying I really appreciate the help and the information I have attained from the knowledge here.
