This method usually always works and ive posted it on AO loads, but i couldnt find any of my posts about them and besides im now back from my connection of T3 line speed onto 56k :-(, so its quicker for me to type iot again rather than search though my past posts.
open a dos window (start----> run ----->cmd), change directory to the directory of the said file using "cd c:\directory\" (without quotes).
leave this window open. then press ctrl-alt-delete, close end task explorer.exe, youll be left with your background and the dos window. Go back into the dos window and type "del filename.exe"
that should get rid of it. now reboot (press ctrl-alt-delete a couple of times or presse the restart button), file should now be gone :-D

djscribble, my post was sending to a threat to download CopyLock. I'm tired to attached it every time I see a undeletable file question :)

Besides Copylock, you could also try delLater from DiamondCS..
