At blockbuster if you rent a game on the regular rates it's like $3-5 for 3 days. If you don't take the game back to the store after that they charge you $3-5 dollars a day in late fees. So if you just keep the game for a month without this deal it'll cost $84 at the least.Quote:
couldn't you just play the game, return it after a month then rent it again?

And there introducing a DVD disk that will not work after 24 hrs, so you pay $24 dollars for a movie, you watch it and after 24hrs the disk will cease to work anymore, it's a way for them to stamp out the piraters i guess, as there the kind of deals that you'd be stupid to knock back..
cheers

Hmm sense the difference?
Just so you guys know, www.netflix.com is just about the same. It's like 20 bucks and they send you the package to ship the movies back in and everything. You are allowed three movies per time, though, with it, and you can like send one back but keep two, then get another one and send two back and get two more... what I mean is that you can keep a total of three at any point in time with no extra charge or anything, simply 20 per month. It's kinda neat.
So will these deals deter dvd piracy?
In my case it has.....why would I spend $1.00 for a dvd and an hour of my time to have a copy of a movie that I can simply go back to Blockbuster and get again and not have to pay $4.23
I think this was a very shrewd move on the part of the movie industry in cooperation with Blockbuster... to discourage dvd piracy???....
I also think that Blockbuster has to be loosing some money on late fee's and re-rentals so they must be being compinsated in some way. I know that they are loosing money from me!
I'm watching more movies and paying less each month than I used to.
Nah,
Think of it. why does it get cheaper when you buy more blanks ? Quantity.
Now block buster is a huge company buying hundreds of thousands of DVDs they get them cheap enough that they just don't care !

That has already come and gone in the form of DIVX.
I can't find anything on the old stuff now, but when DVDs and DVD players forst came out, Circuit City was pushing DIVX movies. They were basically self-expiring VCDs. You could only watch them for around 3 days...
The reason they stopped selling them was because people didn't undertstand the difference between the DIVX movies and DVDs. Eventually, they caught on, and stopped buying them.
