Tyson treats their chickens well. They make contracts with local farmers to only sell chicken to tyson, and I have been through quite a few in my area and they are well maintained. Tyson is without a doubt one of the best chicken corporations. They actually have some guidlines. Rather than having 10,000 chickens in one farm with 50 imigrants working it, they have 10 farms with 1,000 chickens each. This helps make it easier for the individuals who work, as they are not overwhelemed. We have had approximiatly 3,000 immigrants from Mexico move to my area just to work for Tyson. They get decent pay (6 bucks an hour I believe) and tyson has 24 hour shifts at their plant and their feed place, so many of them work 3 shifts and get about hours at home. Of course they get hefty overtime pay for those 2 extra shifts, and that is why most of them do it.
my 2c:
I like animals, and I wouldn't eat anything else.......
As for PETA, the extremists within, seem to be not so much pro animal rights, but rather anti people......
I cannot stand extremists of ANY sort, whether they be religious, race or sport. In the UK we have fox hunting. A VERY bad thing (See Avatar ??), the inedible pursued by the indefensible, but I do not take to the streets to bang on about it, you can make a difference through the ballot box.
And remember: Chickens didn't ask to be Sunday lunch. Treat the animal with respect, as they ARE your existance, no food, no life.
Think: Bacon and Eggs, A mornings work for the Chicken. A lifetimes commitment for the Pig..
