And jr05 wasn't talking to you, he was talking to alterkode. And he was right too. You would know if your home computer wasn't running as a block number type IP and was running as a domain like alterkode stated.
No, you're wrong, the IP part he left due to common sense and fear of not having other's port scan the hell out of him. As for e-mails, unless sent through a chain of computers/proxy has your home computer's IP attached to it since it is sent via TCP/IP - INTERNET PROTOCOL.Quote:

Yahoo doesn't use POP does it? He connects via HTTP, say hello to TCP/IP.
Hrmm good point but because it's a mail service, Yahoo won't have your IP address in a header of any email document. They will have their mailserver.
It's similiar with trying to get IP's through AIM. You try netstat without a direct connection to the person, you'll only get AIM's server or whatever. It's not until you directly connect with them that you can get there IP. Catch my drift?
Since you're trying to pretty much rebute a proven fact that I have proven with pictures and tried to explain, I'll let someone else try to take up my side..
I'm not questioning nor attacking your knowledge or "proven" fact's. However, my email service (when a e-mail message is recieved) doesn't have the sender's IP in the header. Maybe I'm not doing something right or not looking at something clearly. It's not a matter of side's, I'm sure the original poster as well as myself would like to learn more about the issue as I'm obviously confused, no? I'm merely presenting to you what's in front of me.
What e-mail provider do you use?
Currently MSN Hotmail. Glad you can help me learn a little something since I'm obviously confused about the issue. But I don't see my own IP when I send a message to myself. I even asked my friend to do the same (and I know my friend's IP) but to no luck.
Took a few mins to set one up, but It's a 2 step process, first go to options, then e-mail display options, then check full for headers display, now e-mail yourself... I've thrown two pics together in one .zip... enjoy them my friend.
