next install a firewall try any of the following : ZoneAlarm www.zonelabs.com; BlackIce www.blackice.com or get a norton firewall.
Update your anti-spyware product. or get one from www.security.kolla.de (Spy-Bot);

Scan your computer online at www.housecall.antivirus.com

one more tip if you have XP pro then surfe the net with an account with less power then an power user or an admin account group. In XP home use a restricted account.
