Rockypoint, obtaining a position from your IP has nothing to do with
your box itself.
IP locator usually obtain information about your country/ISP location
etc from whois-servers.
If the whois-server does not know your IP (not every whois-server
has information about every IP), a default location given is australia
(try at apnic.net[1])
A good source IP -> location is at whois.sc[2]

its probably getting caught on a hop along the way. IP locators are VERY inaccurate.
Sam Spade site traces back to Virginia. I feel somewhat at ease now. Norton and Panda virus scan reported "virus free." Also, Anti-Keylogger reported no threats...Thanks again for the responses. Y'all are truly supporting a technical dimwit here.

OK, hopefully irrelevant,.........be sure to update you anti-malware, disable the system restore, and run everything in SAFE MODE (you can kill them better that way).

All Net Tools has avery nice collections of online tools, including, SmartWhois, NsLookUp, TraceRoute and Ping. I found them fully and accurately functional.... You can check them out and judge them yourself...

If you're so concerned about viruses and the like, maybe you shouldn't be posting your IP address all over the internet...
