The Pope has died...

to me it is ironic that you have a Marlyn Manson avatar and you bringing this up... hehe

It's a shame that he died but there are more imporant things to deal w/ than a death of this one man. It's very ironic that I was watching an HBO special about the Chernobyl babies and the conditions that they live in about 2 days ago. It makes me sick to my stomach that ppl would come out in houndred of thousands to pray and blabla... for the pope and at the same time ppl don't give a **** about more important things... which there's plenty of.

To put it into perspective, we have a frail 85 year old in the advanced stages of Altzheimer's disesase. His death is not sad, it is inevitable, and a merciful relief. If you have ever watched anyone in a similar position (and I have) you will understand.

If there is anything that I do find sad it is that the poor guy was not retired off several years earlier when his condition was diagnosed.

I think that the larger isssue is who will be the next Pope.................a hardliner like "Panzer" Ratzinger, or a liberal like Hummes?

Those "elections" for the new pope are always nice... the cardinals that have announced that they want to be pope never get the position, out of "revenge" from the others... the Italians want the pope to be Italian again like it has been 90% of the time... most of them want someone who's going to die soon so they can call him a "transition" pope... my vote goes to the Belgian candidate! I can't wait for !mitationRust to call Belgium dinky again - I could then tell him that we dropped Congo for Vatican City...

Given the poor guy's mental and physical health, they have been without a leader for several years?
