I expect the "internet browser" to become less distinguished as a seperate app.
They are building net connectivity into all the other programs, and they all use the
same underlying engine. This engine is "integrated" into the OS. They are correct
when they say that IE can't be removed from Windows, at least not without a
major rethink of their entire OS philosophy.
They could easily reskin IE, add tabs and other interface goodies and claim victory.
The real question is whether, eventually, their monolithic OS will prove too brittle
and unwieldy to compete against LINUX/UNIX, which follows a modular philosophy
where any individual app can be redesigned with relative ease and confidence that
it won't break something else.

IE wont die just yet because to many programs run ONLY on IE, i like to use firefox but, not enough programs are made to run with firefox yet.
