Summer Movie Poll

Blah... I seen the original war of the worlds and hated it. You know this will be the same but will have better effects this time around. *Cough *Fart *Sneeze *Barf... "I saved the world"!

I remember good ol' Jack on an award show years back. I could read his lips in the crowd as Bill Murray took the stage.... and with a sarcastic look on his face you could see Jack leaned over to the person next to him as he said, "Jesus christ, now there's a joker! :rolleyes:" HAH!

Yeah but have you actually heard the voice overs? Also remember that he doesn't look the same as he did in Star-Wars... he seriously looks ****ed up now... I think he would make a great Joker if not just an awsome movie villain.

The orginal War of The Worlds was great. Dated but great for it's time. More geek science fiction than action. I saw a preview of the new one and it looked like they changed it enough to be original. After all it's not a movie remake if they go to the book and make their own artistic interpretion. Look at the difference between the older animated Lord of the Rings and the new series. Even different directors for a film remake can spin a fresh tale. I am looking froward to it...

I saw the new WotW last night. For a 12A (would that be a US PG-13?) it was bloody scary. I was genuinely tense for a lot of the film. The tripods should be rediculous but I found them very threatening. You can pick holes in lots of it if you think too hard. The ending seems to come very quick but the story is told from the point of view of Ray who wouldn't know the big picture so you don't get to know it. Don't wait for the DVD its a big screen picture. SF are some of the most realistic I've seen.

I'd have liked it better if they wiped us out and took over the earth but that wouldn't be true to the book.

The book is worth reading. It's very short but an amazing leap of imagination for it's era.
